Working hard across the Melksham Community

Post Office Counters have annouced their plans to close Melksham's Crown Post Office and replace it with a new franchised store based in a card and gift shop in the old Carpet Barn premises on Bank Street.

The plans can found online here - https://www.postofficeviews.co.uk/branchcode.php?query=01054899&frmnd=liveconsultation - where it is also possible to complete the online consiltation document issued by the Post Office.

Melksham Souoth councillor Jon Hubbard commented "At first reading  I am very concerned by these plans. I understand the new premises are smaller than the existing site, and they are going to include commercial retails premises as well as the post office itself.

"Throughout we have been told that we will get at least as good a service from the new site as we got from the existing provision, but I am struggling to see how this will be the case. I will be contacting the Post Office and asking them to attend an Area Godard meeting to discuss their plans with the people of Melksham."
